Music fans in Nigeria are not feeling happy with the separation of one of the biggest music brands in the country, PSquare, ventilating their aggressions on one of the artists who combined talented efforts at the former PSquare, Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy.
Rudeboy had, in a series of press issues, after the PSquare breakup, claimed that he was responsible for writing 99 percent of all songs released by the former brand, PSquare.
PSquare is a music brand having two biological twin brothers, Paul and Peter Okoye, combining talented efforts to release music albums. It is one of the best music brands in Nigeria in the early 2000s.
The duo breakup, with Paul (Rudeboy) claiming he was the backbone of the former brand because he wrote 99% of the songs jointly released by the brand. He said his twin brother, Peter Okoye (now known as MrP) is not talented with music composition but only knows how to dance.
Rudeboy came under fan's aggression after dropping a social media post, displaying how his new track, ReasonWithMe, gained 220 million views on YouTube.
He revealed the track will be released in a video after the ongoing nationwide protests in Nigeria.
Recall that Rudeboy had been a supporter of protests in Nigeria, recently, a sudden change in habit traceable to his support for the presidential ambition of Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party who lost to the incumbent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the 2023 General election in Nigeria.
Reacting to Rudeboy's claim of writing 99% of PSquare songs, some fans expressed their disagreement stating that Peter can't be in that industry, working in the same studio with Paul for years without gaining the ability to compose any song even if he had not been talented in music composition.
A fan said So I will be in a studio working with a big musician for 5 years, play all the instruments and I can't write and sing my own song 🤣😂 Rudeboy abeg give us another lie, which one u write 99% Psquare songs yet your solo Album flop? MrP is more intelligent than you which means he will sing better abi u go swear say MrP no sabi sing?
Even though this claim could not be ascertained, a fan listed some songs allegedly written by Peter of the former PSquare.
He said That is not true 99% not for rudeboy. Mr. P wrote (roll it, story, Sheknini, personally, alingo, say your love, your name, more than à friend, gimme that, etc...
"plenty he did," the fan claimed.
Interestingly, a fan could testify to Rudeboy's claim of writing 99% of PSquare songs, revealing that Rudeboy's new album still gives him the impression of PSquare.
He insisted that It's clear Rudeboy was the one writing all the Hit songs for Psquare because I still get the Psquare Feeling when I listen to His Songs.
Reacting to the trend, a fan revealed that, even, if it is true that Rudeboy wrote all the PSquare songs, the fans are not watching their videos because of the songs alone but because the talented dancing step Peter is part of what won their hearts for the PSquare.
He said, Good song. However, you claiming you wrote 99% of Psquare songs can't make us love Peter less. We love Psquare not only for songs. We love the dance, the fashion, the performance, so the song is not enough. I am a die-hard fan of Psquare, in fact, my whole life had been all about defending Psquare and proclaiming how big Psquare was before this generation. It is heartbreaking that the Psquare is no more.
